Solid hardwood chessboard made from real hardwood, (not veneer, not chip board, not engineered ''stuff''). Internal squares are maple and purpleheart hardwoods Outside border is walnut hardwood. This chessboard is solid. This Deluxe Chessboard is functional and attractive, and will delight both the newcomer players as well as seasoned chess players. Made in Oregon, USA, handcrafted by a skilled craftsmen, we used only the finest hardwoods (no veneer, no particle board ). Our handcrafted chessboard is museum-quality item. It can make for a great gift, or a make handsome addition for the home or office. The board squares are 1.75 inches. Board thickness is 5/8 inches. Weight is about 6 pounds 10 ounces. Chess pieces are not included, but there is a great selection of chess pieces available on Amazon. FINISH - semi-gloss shellac. Backside includes felt bottom. Every chessboard will have a slightly different wood grain because we use the ''real stuff'' hardwoods, not veneer. We think that you will be very pleased.
